the sdr challenge, created by the air force research laboratory in partnership with the wright brothers institute, seeks to create opportunities for student engineering teams to create extraordinary solutions to land, air, and sea communications challenges.  they do so by identifying specific challenges and using software-defined radios (sdrs) to build real-world, over-the-air solutions for them.  this competition fosters student learning in the areas of rf design, signal processing and communications, embedded software, and even ai.
